It has long been the wish of Lama Zopa Rinpoche for there to be places around the world where senior Sangha and longtime senior students of the FPMT, can live in long term retreat or retirement. In order for this wish to become reality in the United States, Lama Zopa Rinpoche and the FPMT have made available a great majority of the land at Buddha Amitabha Pure Land for the purpose of establishing such a place.
Buddha Amitabha Pure Land is situated in a remote rural area of Washington State, and is a relatively new project of the FPMT. Our intention is to develop a community of senior FPMT Sangha and longtime senior lay students, by providing a place where they can come and build their own residences in order to do long term retreat, or to live in retirement within a retreat community. In Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s words, “where they can live and do their practice and retreat until they die”.
